A Few Tips on Getting Cheaper Airline Tickets
Posted by admin on 3/16/10 • Categorized as Uncategorized
Prices for airline tickets can fluctuate wildly, even over very short time periods. The price you are given in the morning can vary greatly throughout the course of a day! Airlines tend to base their varying ticket prices on three factors, demand, availability and competition.
This can mean that flights to less popular destinations can be much more expensive than flights to more popular locations. This also means that prices can fall if an airline is struggling to fill seats.
Start Your Research Early
To make the greatest savings always start your hunt for bargain tickets as early as possible. By early I mean at least one month in advance, ideally more. While decreases in ticket prices can occur they tend to increase so searching early is generally a good idea.
Always Shop Around
Always take some time to shop around the various airlines, either by telephoning or by using their websites. It can be worthwhile to tell airlines the prices you have been quoted by their competitors as they are often likely to reduce their prices to match. To get the best possible price quotes tell the airlines that you are flexible over your departure date and time. Keep your intended departure dates to yourself too start with, just ask for the cheapest fare to your destination.
Use Discounts
Airline discounts can sometimes be a false economy. Most discounted flight tickets come with a whole load of conditions such as restrictions on travel dates and times. To get the best discount you will generally have to book your flight at least three or even four weeks in advance. It is worth discussing discount opportunities with specific airlines so that you are aware of their requirements and can take full advantage of their discount offers.
Always Buy Return Tickets
Always get return tickets rather than buy separate one-way tickets for your return journey as this will save you a fortune.
Use Your Age
If you are a student be sure to check out any special student discounts. You may find that there are some discounts specifically for senior travellers so if you are a bit older it would be worth asking about these.
I hope that these very simple tips will provide you with some useful savings when you next fly.
For more travel savings I recommend booking your Birmingham Airport Parking, Heathrow Parking or Gatwick Parking as far in advance as possible.
